The AI search market is changing rapidly and the differences between the main players are becoming increasingly clear. Below are the market shares of the most used AI search services in April 2026:

@seodr. tracks the use of the most popular AI search services on a monthly basis. Every month there are big changes, both in terms of user behaviour and market share. For example, we can clearly see that OpenAI's ChatGPT grabbed users early on, but that since the beginning of the year, Google Gemini has been going very strong.

The big reason for Google's success is that new users of AI searches can't resist clicking on AI Overview, as it frequently appears in the search results of a traditional ”googling”. Most new users quickly realise that an AI search is something new and exciting, and therefore become comfortable to proceed. Microsoft's Microsoft Copilot, on the other hand, has a stable user base thanks to companies already working on Microsoft's system. By integrating Copilot directly into the existing work environment, it becomes natural for users to try and gradually start using the service in their daily work.

The picture shows the result after a ”googling” of: Which companies can help with rock reinforcement?

The image illustrates how easily AI Overview (Google Gemini) integrates directly into Google search results, thereby influencing which companies the user is exposed to at the very first stage of their information search.

AI search will change the way buyers work

Since the emergence of AI search in B2B, businesses are facing entirely new challenges. For example, imagine a customer who has been buying services from your company for years decides to do an AI search on your company name. Suddenly, the customer is presented with several other options that they may not have previously known existed. The customer then contacts another supplier, for a reason as basic as they were attracted by a more modern feel in their communication. Suddenly, your business starts losing established customers, and you don't understand how this happened.

The easiest way to avoid this is to do AI search analyses, and to find strategies and approaches to be found even in this new field.

The first step in conducting an AI search analysis of your business is to analyse your digital touchpoints - that is, analyse how new and existing customers find your website today. After that, it becomes clearer which search behaviours lead customers to you. Is it mainly existing customers who search directly on the company name, or can new customers also find you through searches on products, services and areas of expertise?

Seodr. is happy to help you analyse how you are found in the different AI search results!

Yours sincerely
